H1N1 Vaccination Schedule
The overwhelming majority of vaccinations provided by Public Health-Dayton and Montgomery County will be the nasal mist. Shots will be provided for students meeting specified medical conditions.
Administration of the vacccination program has been streamlined as to offer very little interruption in the school day for your child. After receiving the vaccine, students will return to class and continue with their normal school day.
The schedule for the H1N1 vaccination program in Northmont schools will be as follows:
Monday, Nov. 16: Union Elementary, O.R. Edgington Elementary,
Englewood Elementary, and Englewood Hills Elementary
Tuesday, Nov. 17: Northwood Elementary and Northmoor Elementary
Wednesday, Nov. 18: Northmont Middle School
Thursday, Nov. 19: Northmont High School
Reduced Meal Application
This year, Northmont will not be mailing out the free and reduced meal applications. They will be handed out to your student on the first day of school or during schedule pick up. If you would like to apply sooner, you can go online to www.LunchApp.com and complete a family application. Also, you can deposit money or monitor your student's account at www.LunchDeposit.com.
Inside Northmont
On any regular day, the services of Northmont school nurses Julie Bankowitz, Susan DiSabatino, Amy Phelps, and Connie Roberts are invaluable. As a team they have conducted vision and hearing screenings at each of the eight buildings, attended to various health needs of the students and staff, and provided health care resources at our school buildings.
Unlike other years, the attention the H1N1 virus has been receiving has demanded no less than two hours a day responding to questions from concerned parents and staff. Daily our nursing team of has been in contact with Public Health-Dayton and Montgomery County.
Since early September our nurses have been working with Public Health-Dayton and Montgomery County to provide the H1N1 vaccination program in Northmont schools. While plans and details were being coordinated, the Northmont community experienced early symptoms of what public health officials were calling the H1N1 flu. The number of students who frequented school clinics during late September and early October, once again, showcased the high quality work of our nurses. Planning for the November 16-19 vaccination program continued. Information packets were sent home during the middle of October. Parents wanting their children to participate in the vaccination program returned consent forms by November 2.
